ABOUT THE ROLE
AsSeniorArt Directorreporting to the Creative Director you will manage a team of designers, collaborate with our fellow creative team members of photographers, videographers and copywriters, and work with Product Management, UX, Tech, Merchandising and Marketing teams to make design delightful. You will focus on designing on-brand communications across our customer-facing website and in our printed catalog, as well as help shape and build internal processes and tools. You will contribute strategic thinking to our Brand conversation, as well as map out and oversee execution.
You have experience managing an agile design team. You are as comfortable collaborating with othersfrom the copywriters and marketing, to our product and tech teamsas you are working on your own. You dont consider a design complete until the kerning or QA is just right, and love a detailed style guide. You know when to beflexible, but always maintain high standards for original concepts anddetailed executions. You love visual storytelling, branding, and adding handmade touches to digital design. You have a strong desire to push the UncommonGoods visual brand forward.

RESPONSIBILITIES Manage a growing team of Designers Researchinspiration and keep abreast of relevant trends and the competitive landscape Collaborate with other Creative team members to unite the visual brand guidelines and create consistency across platforms and assets, including packaging Work closely with cross-functional partners in Product Management, Merchandising and Marketing teams to define and understand seasonal messaging strategy and campaigns in order to develop concepts, designs and art direction to support the strategy Manage, produce and share multiple design and art solutions to a creative brief or project and provide strong recommendations based upon trends, data and best practices Work with Product Management, UX, and Tech to provide strategic design solutions, QA and launch clean on brand designs for our website and internal tools Be a proactive problem solver and thought leader by seeking out opportunities to better our visual communication and design
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Degree inGraphic Designpreferred, but not necessary if experience and portfoliowarrant 10+ years of visual design experiencebackground ine-commerce is a plus 4+ years of managing / mentoring designers Ability to give and receive honest andthoughtful feedback Be immersed and knowledgeable in design culture, current and past Have a strong balance of identity, typography, layout, and illustration design skills Have an understanding of the ecommerce landscape, with enough web-savvy and basic coding skills to collaborate with our technology team Be well-versed in Sketch, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure, handle multiple projects, contribute to a team effort and deliver on individual responsibilities Have a solutions-oriented mentality, and an open, positive and collaborative communication style Strong desire to push the UncommonGoods visual brand forward
