The PositionThis position is responsible for assisting the Lead in the planning, executing and tracking of internal and external communications plans in support of the Novo Nordisk Diabetes Portfolio and Diabetes Commercial Business Unit (BU). Provides communications expertise on various initiatives aligned with marketing strategies, company vision, values and business priorities. RelationshipsReports to the Director, Diabetes BU Portfolio Communications. Key external relationships include patients, professional and patient/consumer third party groups; media, and public relations agencies. Interacts with all areas within Novo Nordisk and NN/AS regarding product/corporate communications programs, goals and needs. Key relationships in Novo Nordisk include Diabetes leadership and brand management; Public Affairs, and legal, regulatory, Key relationships in NN/AS include Global Marketing and product communications, corporate communications, and corporate branding. Essential Functions Supports the development and implementation of proactive communications and media relations strategies to support the business goals and strategies of Novo Nordisk. Includes brand-building, market development and market- shaping initiatives for priority brands. Programs are either branded or unbranded and are closely aligned to specific business objectives. Meets regularly with legal, medical and regulatory colleagues to ensure Food & Drug Administration (FDA) compliance Supports efforts to drive positive media coverage for Novo Nordisk in business, financial and consumer press to enhance visibility of company and its brands in coordination with NNI Corporate Communications. Develops key message platforms, prepares/coaches management for media interviews and external speaking opportunities; and works with reporters to shape/influence story coverage Portfolio and Marketing Communications: Supports marketing sponsorships tied directly to brands and Novo Nordisk Works with patient ambassador team to create strategy and direction for branded and Novo Nordisk patient ambassadors Works with Communications leads for BU and Marketing Leadership to develop and implement communication plans and publicize business milestones within the BU and more broadly across the Enterprise; supports Leadership external presentations and internal Town Halls, working collaboratively across the Commercial BU Communications Team Supports development of short and long-term strategic functional plans for brands within commercial business units Strategic and Tactical Product Communication support for the Commercial Business Unit Supports the development and implementation of communications programs and public relations strategies for pipeline products pre- and post-launch, including directing US media and advocacy strategies for FDA advisory committee meetings Interacts with leaders and communications executives at third party organizations to determine where public relations could enhance program impact; supports strategic and tactical concepts Supports communications programs to enhance awareness of Diabetes pipeline among external and internal stakeholders including media, physicians, patients, caregivers, advocacy and employees among others Charts progress and adjusts plans/tactics accordingly, holds agencies accountable for delivering on measurement targets Supports the development of meaningful and measurable objectives for product communications programs that are aligned with business goals Identifies and applies the best tools and technologies to measure and analyze results Coordinates with Manager, Social Media Relations to create content for non-branded and branded channels Physical RequirementsApproximately 10-20% overnight travel Qualifications A minimum of 6+ years of communications related experience required. Candidates with 4+ years of experience accompanied by an advanced degree can be considered A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. Advanced degree preferred Experience in a public relations agency environment and/or the pharmaceutical industry preferred Ability to work under tight timelines, in what can be a stressful environment with limited planning or preparation Ability to demonstrate strategic planning and business writing Proven ability to effectively manage projects Able to work effectively in a cross-functional, collaborative environment with global as well as regional considerations and, sometimes, political implications Understanding of social media platforms and digital strategies Novo Nordisk is an Equal Opportunity Employer - M/F/Veteran/Disability/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity.
