The Marketing Research team is the heart of CoStar, capturing market-critical information that enables our commercial real estate clients to make informed, high impact business decisions daily. CoStar Group s research contributes to the most important segment of our economy, helping businesses open offices, retail stores, warehouses, and manufacturing facilities. CoStar Group is seeking a Director of Aerial Research to join our growing research organization.

As a CoStar Director of Aerial Research, you will be responsible for strong and effective leadership as well as innovation to a growing team of Aerial Researchers. The Aerial Research team operates marketing research operations from CoStar Group s owned aircraft throughout North America. Manned and unmanned aircraft are used to capture beautiful media for the CoStar Group marketplaces and comprehensive data coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and implement a strategic plan for optimized collection, transfer, and publication of data and media.
  • Lead team of Aerial Researchers to capture media and data for submarkets as well as properties.
  • Liaise with CoStar Group data scientists and analysts to process vast amounts of data and imagery.
  • Utilize automated resources to ingest collected content to replicate across thousands of records.
  • Coordinate with network team to create and optimize data storage and transfer of files.
  • Establish strong partner relationships with vendors to ensure content is processed in optimal fashion meeting departmental objectives.
  • Manage plane exploration schedule based on data needs, staff availability, weather, and aircraft service requirements.
  • Develop strong relationship with plane management and pilots to ensure successful missions.
  • Plan improvements to the safety, coverage, accuracy, depth of market/region data and encourage the application of innovative research approaches. Includes meaningful interactions, relationship building, effective questioning, listening, probing, building rapport, tracking relevant publications and sharing information.
  • Identify opportunities to establish or enhance client relationships through engagement with the aircraft during routine and specialized missions.
  • Travel to different markets in North America to support the team and the aircraft missions.
  • Recruit, mentor and develop a team of high-performing Aerial Researchers with exceptional communication skills, proven customer service, and the highest level of integrity.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor s degree; ideally in aviation, videography, or photography
  • 7+ years of management experience
  • 5+ years of experience outfitting aircraft with high-resolution camera equipment for complex media shoots
  • 5+ years of experience working with and processing large data files
  • Flexibility to travel multiple weeks at a time each month

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Excellent problem solving, research and analytical skills; attention to detail, objectivity and the ability to think strategically
  • Experience coaching and mentoring others in their professional growth and development
  • Confident personality with the ability to interact at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in change management as well as experience in a dynamic work environment
  • Experience managing remote workers or field team a plus
