Plant Production Manager
Compensation: $150,470.00 - $150,470.00 /year *
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reporting to the Senior Director for Operations, this Position will have direct responsibility for the manufacturing operations, including all key performance and budgetary metrics. The successful candidate will be expected to deploy the tools of lean/quality systems to drive continuous improvement throughout the operation and will strongly participate in the new product development process to ensure the company maintains an innovative product leadership position in the marketplace.
NOTE: This position is in our Scranton, PA Manufacturing facilities. Relocation will be provided if needed.
Directs the operations function in conjunction with business growth.
Applies progressive quality and lean systems tools including 5S, CTQ, Process Audits, Policy Deployment and other proactive quality management practices.
Develop and introduce new operational systems to resolve operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
Assist with the development of organizational policies and practices and attainment of operating goals while maintaining management responsibility.
Maintain a clear understanding of plant capacity vs. actual plant production output by collecting and tracking various data through the production areas within the business unit.
Develop a strategy to ensure the most effective use of labor and inventory while meeting sales requirements.
Develop and implement plans to ensure the operation performs in the most cost-effective and productive manner.
Meet organizational goals in relation to safety, quality and timely delivery of products.
Practices strong engagement with direct reports and team members including accepting diversity of ideas and thoughts, sharing responsibility for success, demonstrating honesty and integrity, helping employees solve problems and showing respect.
Oversee and drive continuous improvement in all key areas of the operations including safety, quality, cost, delivery and member morale.
Achieve breakthrough cost reductions, accurately budget/foresee costs, and meet budgeted total cost commitments.
Develop and utilize KPI's/visual management on the shop floor.
Oversee all new equipment installations, as well as, start-up of equipment.
Ensure accuracy of finished goods, raw materials and production data.
Stay current with the availability of new technology and alternative materials that may benefit the operation.
Establish and maintain relationships with material vendors, as well as, equipment suppliers.
Meet organizational financial objectives.
Provide leadership, mentoring, training and formal performance review feedback to direct reports
Performs other assignments as directed.
Education: Bachelors degree strongly preferred.
Experience: 10-15+ years experience in a manufacturing plant environment. Experience in PVC/Plastic Extrusion is preferred.
Strong background in manufacturing systems, data collection and statistical analysis in dynamic fast-paced manufacturing environment;
Demonstrated success in interfacing with internal and external customers;
Articulate written and oral communication; Demonstrated individual and group presentation skills;
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate upwardly to top management and downward to a wide range of audiences.
Computer Skills: Must have experience in MS Office software with high proficiency in Excel. System knowledge of JD Edwards or similar operating system.
